1956 Cadillac Die Valkyrie

ILLINOIS, USA

Car Story

The car design is atypical for Cadillac, just for Cadillac show cars. Designed by Brooks Stevens, industrial designer. In his view the Die Valkyrie was a mix of Lincoln Continental design and Cadillac performance. The design was inspired by coachwork from the pre-war era. The car was ordered by a Cleveland real estate proprietor named Metzenbaum.

Built in the German coachwork Spohn Works in Ravensburg, West Germany. Initial plans intended for production of one hundred exemplars. In total, six exemplars were produced. It is believed that only three came to the United States. Only two exemplars are known to exist.

The stock Cadillac body was removed and replaced with a steel convertible body. The most unusual design feature was the front, especially the grille. It was shaped in a letter ā€œVā€. It was a great hint what was housed under the hood.

The engine was a V8 engine found in the Series Sixty Two. The seats were extremely plush. One assumes that they were from some of the pieces of a Mercedes-Benz 300 seat.
