Plymouth Superbird 1970 - Amerykanin w Kanadzie

	Jest to bardzo rzadki egzemplarz wozu, jako że była to wersja eksportowa (ogółem kilka sztuk na niecałe 2 tysiące). Samochód został sprzedany do niepodal Montrealu w stanie Quebec. Pierwszy właściciel wymienił oryginalny silnik 440-4 na 440-6. Wymiana została dokonana jeszcze w pierwszym roku samochodu (1970/71). Nie mam pojęcia, czy było to dokonane na gwarancji. Silnik jest datowany na koniec roku 1969, jest więc to poprawny kod, lecz numery seryjne nie zgadzają się, patrz silnik 440-4 (kod U). Pierwszy właściciel posiadał go przez rok i w 1971 sprzedał mieszkańcowi przedmieść Montréalu (St-Hubert). Dowiedziałem się, że drugi właściciel używał samochodu do wyścigów z lokalną policją, gdyż nie miał nic lepszego do roboty. Wówczas odebrano mu prawo jazdy, a samochód mu skonfiskowano. Odtąd Superbird stał na parkingu ku uciesze lokalnych policjantów. Mieszkałem w tych okolicach i znam tą historię od ówczesnych policjantów. Około roku 1980 Superbirda kupiła para z okolic Granby, która przeprowadziła gruntowny remont i przywróciła mu dzisiejszy wygląd. Lakier pochodzi z 1981 roku, wymieniono wszystkie chromowane rzeczy i dużo innych części (długo można to wymieniać). Jedna z większych zmian to tzw. DANA (tylna oś o przełożeniach 3,54), wał napędowy, bak paliwa, tylne zawieszenie, częsci skrzyni biegów, i masa części silnikowych. Na jednym zdjęciu widać otwarty tylny bęben i zawieszenie. Amortyzatory i duzo innych części systemu hamulcowego nie są brązowe lecz powleczone złotem. Chociaż Superbird nie jest w oryginalnym stanie, większość części jest oryginalna, auto jest w stylu muscle carów lat 70-tych. Ten wóz zdobył wiele nagród i pierwsze miejsca na zlotach. Około roku 2000 trzeci właściciel musial sprzedać auto, by utrzymać swoją farmę. Auto odkupił mieszkaniec Montréalu, który trzymał go w magazynie, zanim ja go odkupiłem ostatniego lata. Pojazd musiał przejść testy bezpieczeństwa, by powrócić na drogi. Trzeba było też dokonać paru prac. Główna zmiana to elektryka (głównie przewody), która zawodziła (wilgoć i przerwy w pracy). Trzeba było wymienić na cały zestaw nowiuteńkich przewodów. Pod względem mechanicznym, samochód nie jeździł przez około dwadzieścia lat, chociaż został odświeżony w 1981 roku, silnik nadal wymaga uwagi jeśli chce się utrzymać go w doskonałym stanie. Moją pracę wyceniam na około 5 tysiecy dolarów kanadyjskich. Samochód był raz przemalowywany (w 1981) i ma tylko dwa miejsca uszkodzenia (tył bagażnika i obok tylnej szyby). Przy malowaniu użyto lakierów dostępnych pod koniec lat 70-tych, jednak już na początku lat 80-tych, lakier zaczął wykazywać ślady zmęczenia, ale można go zostawić na jakiś czas. Na masce jest bardzo ładny obrazek aerografem i maskotka - zmęczony zwierzaczek Willy El Coyote na bagażniku. Auto przyciaga naprawdę wielką uwagę podczas jazdy. Although this Superbird is not in an original state, it has mostly all its original parts but is presented in the spirit of the 1970 muscle car fashion of the time. This vehicle has won too many price and first place at various car shows to describe. In 2000 or so, the 3rd owner had to sell the car to maintain his farm going and vehicle was sold to a Montréal resident who stored it in a warehouse until I bought it from him last spring. The vehicle had to pass a safety check to return on the road and it was done with little to be fixed. The major concern on this car for now is the electrical system (mainly wires) that are going bad, (drying up and breaking) coming with this car is a complete set of brand new wires for the 1970 Superbird.
