1954 Pontiac Bonneville Special

CALIFORNIA, USA

Car Story

The Bonneville Special's fiberglass bodywork was capped by a canopy, sporting its own flip-up clear panels. It was powered by a Pontiac flathead straight-eight, fed by a squadron of sidedraft carbs. The interior was also aircraft-inspired, and the rear styling gave the impression of a larger afterburner-shaped trunklid.

The car was designed by Harley Earl and built by Homer LaGassey and Paul Gilland. Both cars were being readied for production. Below this link you can take a look of another green Bonneville.

The dream car shown on pictures belongs to dream car collector, Joe Bortz.

Nadwozie Bonneville Speciala wykonane z tworzywa sztucznego było zwieńczone szklaną kopułą, otwieranymi szklanymi klapami. Samochód napędzała górnozaworowa rzędowa ósemka Pontiaka. Wnętrze miało lotniczy charakter, a klapa bagażnika była inspirowana lotniczym wydechem.

Samochód projektował Harley Earl, zaś budowali po jego okiem Homer LaGassey i Paul Gilland. Oba samochody były przewidziany do produkcji seryjnej. Więcej zdjęć zielonego egzemplarza tu.

Samochód marzeń pokazany na zdjęciach należy do kolekcjonera dream carów Joe Bortza.
