1971 Pontiac Firebird

CALIFORNIA, USA

Car Story

In 1980, Travolta inspired a nationwide country music craze with the release of his hit film Urban Cowboy. For the movie’s release, George Barris had the interior of the Travolta Fever car transformed to a customized Urban Cowboy theme appointed with cowhide seats, an authentic saddle for the center console and detailed stiching on the rear seat depicting a cowboy riding a mechanical bull (see photos).

In 1983, several of the cars from the George Barris Collection (including Travolta Fever) were auctioned off in Hollywood and until recently, the Travolta Fever has been out of the public eye and hidden away. A few months ago, Travolta Fever was brought back to George Barris' shop for a magazine shoot and George personally autographed the dash at that time (see photos). Travolta Fever is currently owned by an automobile collector in Ventura, California. - See more at: http://www.carpictures.com/vehicle/07KJM203705692/Pontiac-Firebird-Travolta-Fever-1971#sthash.vZySHZNE.dpuf

Filma Revell wypuściła specjalną edycję  wersję samochodziku do własnoręcznego sklejania.

The ride was used as an ad of the album released by John Travolta. The ride looks as 1978 car, but it is 1971 (according to the VIN 224871L101401). the car was customized by famous George Barris.

The car was also used to promote John Travolta and his movie Saturday Night Fever (1977). In 1980 the car was transformed by Barris again. Barris added cowhide seatsand an authentic saddle in the console. The car was an ad of the Travolta movie "Urban Cowboy". Some years later the car was auctioned and then disappeared. Now, the car is was found again and is owned by a private collector from California.
